Easter Sunday

Our first Sunday in Ethiopia was our Easter (Ethiopia celebrated Easter the next Sunday). The day was a bit sad because I was missing home...watching Lucy explore her Easter basket and seeing her in her Easter dress...but I knew John was taking care of business. This big Easter egg was in the hotel lobby at the Sheraton.
We went to church at a Branch in Addis. This is the LDS church building. The building is quite nice. It's fenced all around and even has a guard standing by! We took this really bumpy road to get there...you'd never think a church would be at the end of that road!

I went to visit the Primary instead of going to Sunday School. This boy kept wanting to get in all the pictures! The real teacher didn't show up, so it was kind of chaotic, but it was interesting to see how they function. They try to do all of church in English (with some translation), so it was easy to follow for the most part. The Primary kids like to "give talks"...which basically means reading from the scriptures until the teacher says "time is up"!

Jason (from the home for street kids) brings most of his boys to church with him.
Of course we met the missionaries! Ethiopia is part of the Uganda Kampala mission. Brother and Sister Himle are doing a Humanitarian Mission in Addis and it turns out that they are from Redlands, CA and know my brother-in-law, Jared! Their kids and Jared grew up together.

Also, one of the Elder's I met is from Sammamish (a neighboring city to Issaquah) and we know a lot of the same people. VERY small world. I think he was excited to meet someone from his home town!
