Simple fix

Near the beginning of our trip, we saw this boy on the streets when we were eating on an outside patio. Obviously, seeing his physical limitations would make anyone want to help somehow. DeAnna, being the "mom" of VOH, confronted him and asked if he needed a wheelchair. Well, it turns out that he is also deaf, so he can't speak. So....it took awhile to figure out what he was saying, but he said he already had a chair, but it was broken. So, DeAnna offered to pay to have it fixed....it was about $100. The next day we picked up the chair and took it to get fixed. By the end of the week it was repaired and he was SO happy! It's amazing what $100 can do for someone's quality of life! Such a simple fix! This act of kindness basically sums up what Village of Hope is all about!
This is how he would walk around...like a gorilla.

Our drivers would "talk" to him by writing in the sand and then he would respond by "writing" on his arm with a rock.

The kids were very curious about this strange looking bike that we picked up.

Trying out the new and improved chair!

Me and DeAnna
(and I feel horrible because I don't even know the boys name!)
His reaction was priceless! He probably never thought his chair would get fixed and we could tell he was extremely grateful!
